NSW: NSW most popular holiday destination for Australians

A new survey shows New South Wales is the most popular state to visit on a holiday
for Australians.

The survey of more than 2,000 people across Australia, conducted by the government
tourist initiative See Australia, found that 35 per cent had chosen to take a holiday
in NSW.

The second most popular state was Queensland with 27 per cent, followed by Victoria
with 21 per cent.

The study also found that people in NSW want to take holidays in their home state,
with almost half (49 per cent) staying in NSW for a break.

The survey was conducted last year on the 1999 travel patterns of those surveyed.
